Beautiful Romania – Churches/Monastery

Religion is an important part of Romanian culture, 86.5% of the population are Orthodox Christians and don’t be surprised when I’ll tell you that are over 18.000 churches. Here are the most important:

Voronet Monastery
A world heritage listed in UNESCO, was constructed in 1488 and it’s also know as “Sistine Chapel of the East”. Frescoes at Voroneț has a unique shade of blue.

Black Church
The most important Gothic style monument in Romania, the name was given after a big fire in 1689.

Sihastria Putnei Monastery
The monastery has over 360 years old.

Moldovita Monastery
Was built in 1532 and has beautiful frescoes painted in blue and yellow.
